Benefits of Auxiliary Membership

  • Exclusive to Auxiliary members are seasonal newsletters with important Garden news, attend monthly Auxiliary meetings with interesting guest speakers, and exclusive tours.

  • Our largest fundraiser, the Spring Plant Sale, is held Friday and Saturday of Mother’s Day Weekend in May. The plant sale features unusual trees and shrubs, house plants, annuals, vegetables and herbs, and perennials, including a large selection of L.I. and Northeast natives.

  • Annual Marie Jensen Bick Tea Event - English style tea held in the Clark House Library.

The Auxiliary of the FDCMG, Inc.

In May of 1970, twenty-seven volunteers organized a fundraising event for the garden, and a month later they formed the The Fanny Dwight Clark Memorial Garden, Inc. Auxiliary.


Since that time, the Auxiliary has increased its membership and continues to be the primary source of fundraising events including the annual Spring Plant Sale and the famous Bick Tea. 

Volunteers from the Auxiliary also staff The Gift Shop. 

Clark Botanic Garden is owned, operated, and maintained by the Town of North Hempstead. Both The Fanny Dwight Clark Memorial Garden, Inc. and Town of North Hempstead are collaborative partners in a historical Conservation Easement to protect the space in perpetuity.
